Discrimination by Who?
YMCA basketball for 7-year olds
It’s not the least bit personal,
But kids who have no skills at all,
Will often seem to find themselves
Without much chance to touch the ball.
Still one dad, very angrily,
Chose bitter confrontation,
Proclaiming kids and coaches guilty
Of discrimination.
Another parent said to him
There was no bias on the squad,
The sole discrimination being
Skills denied his son by God.

Reward
Writing lots of poetry
Brings many a reward,
But none of them are greater than
So rarely being bored.

Fake News Actors
Forsaking news roles
With activist goals,
They blithely impart
Performative art.

Marital Possessions

Russel Winick recently started writing poetry at nearly age 65, after ending a long legal career. He resides in Naperville, Illinois.
Russel, I love your biting wit. The b. ball one is hysterical.
Thanks Cheryl. Crazy events are fun to write about. I’m glad you enjoyed the poems.
What a great way to start a day, so entertaining, thanks!
Thanks Yael. I’m delighted that you liked the poems. I love waking up to SCP poetry too.
I love the YMCA poem! Almost as if written from experience.
Yes Roy, from experience. Twenty years of the kids’ youth sports turned into a poetry factory. Thanks!
Great stuff, Russel!
One very good read after another!
Thanks Joe – it’s inspiring to read your comments.
Marital Possessions (Addendum)
Men like keeping stuff about,
But wives would rather throw it out.
You wanting to dump her stuff
May cause her words to be rough.
So squelch it! Don’t make her shout.
