(whoever felled it left not a hair),
With no one home, what was, do you think,
The mysterious force that toppled it there?
I will honestly say I do not think
That ghosts and such visit much these days
Or that Petey Canary could lift that drink,
Or that elves can’t find a job that pays.
No Kitty, it was you, yes! and ever so neatly
Tipped over the bowl with Goldie inside.
You gulped her whole. Such a slick, slimy treat!
And the pouring out water just up and dried.
